Allergy & Asthma Experts Serving Griffith, Indiana

COVID-19 Important Message

Dear Patients,

The Lake County Health Department is ordering every person inside a business, or any other indoor public space, to wear a mask over their mouth and nose at all times — effective immediately. Please keep this mind as you come to our office. Please bring a mask for you and whoever must accompany you.

With the current concerns regarding community-based spread of COVID-19, the public has been asked to observe social distancing. This involves avoiding large gatherings, crowded places, and non-essential travel.  Health facilities, similarly, have been advised to strengthen screening procedures.

Allergy & Asthma Specialists will remain open to serve our patients with allergy, asthma, COPD, chronic sinusitis, chronic skin disease, food allergies, and immunodeficiency.

It is important that community-based medical practices remain open so that vital health needs of the public can be met outside of urgent cares and emergency departments. Emergency facilities must be reserved to care for the very ill.

To safeguard the health of our patients and staff, Allergy & Asthma Specialists is implementing the following procedures until the current COVID-19 outbreak has been stabilized:

  • Employees will be screened each shift for cough and fever and sent home if necessary.
  • Patients will be screened in advance of their appointments to rule out active cough and fever. They will also be screened for international travel or sick contacts.
  • Minor patients are asked to be accompanied by only 1 adult family member. When possible, we request that siblings remain at home unless they will also be receiving treatment.
  • If appropriate, we will offer telemedicine visits with our providers. Our aim is to continue delivering healthcare while limiting your exposure to COVID-19 virus. Our goal is to keep our patients out of urgent care, emergency rooms, and hospitals so that these facilities may be used for severe COVID-19 patients.

In order to minimize exposure within our waiting room, after check-in we are offering the option of waiting in your car until you are ready to be seen. Please be sure to provide our front desk with a number to reach you.

For our Allergy Shot Patients, after receiving your injection, you may spend the required post-injection waiting period in your car.  If you have any symptoms consistent with anaphylaxis, please return immediately to our office.

For our patients on biologic therapy (i.e. Xolair, Nucala, or Fasenra), upon arrival please call our front desk from the parking lot. We will start preparing your injections at that time. We will call you once your injections are ready to be administered. You will also have the option to spend the post-injection waiting period in your car.  If you have any adverse reactions, please return immediately to our office.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we all work together to safeguard the health of our communities.
